History of Phi Lambda Upsilon Fraternity UEP chapter

PHI LAMBDA UPSILON FRATERNITY
UPSILON LAMBDA PHI SORORITY


UNIVERSITY OF EASTERN PHILIPPINES CHAPTER
UNIVERSITY TOWN, NORTHERN SAMAR




The operation of the organization were fully stop due to the declaration of Martial
Law on September 21, 1972. The resident members on that were only 6 fraternity
members and 4 sorority members.

After 5 years of the martial law rule the UEP organizations were permitted to operate
with strict rules and regulations. Only 2 fraternity resident members were
still on the campus, They are Brod. Eduardo
“Boy” Zeta Ramis, an Agricultural Engineering student and Brod. Mario “Mayo” Acebron Alido a
Business Administration student.


The sorority resident members are zero in numbers. On the Second Semester School Year 1976-1977, the first fraternity organization to operate in this university were the Upsilonian. With the coordination and financial support of all the Alumni members who are employed in this university, like Brod. Jaime Jumadiao, Brod. Godofredo Ramis, and the late Brod. Felomino Orsolino, the late Brod. Eddie Serrona, and the Founder Brod. Porperio “Jun” Barlaan, Jr. and Brod. Eduardo “Eddie” Rotaiche Arraiza , and also with the assistance of the sorority adviser members who were also employed in this university like Sis.
Tita Megenio, and Sis. Otilia Arraiza.

The first revival operation (post martial law era), the first fraternity batch were conducted at the backyard piggery project of Brod Eddie Arraiza. We recruited 21 neophytes
(slaves): 5 from College of Veterinary Medicine recruited by Brod Jim Jumadiao
and Brod Dodoy Ramis; Brod Mayo Alido recruited 3 from the College of Business
Administration and Brod Boy Ramis recruited 13 slaves from the College Engineering.
Only 12 neophytes survived (8 form CE, 1 from CBA, and 3 from DVM) for a duration
of one month long initiation.


The sorority adviser members and assistance of the newly survived fraternity
members and after one year of operation of the fraternity, the sorority started
its operation on first semester school year 1977-1978. We recruited 21 sorority
neophytes and all them survived for a month long initiation held also at the
backyard piggery project.


Then came the Anti-Hazing Law, the organization temporarily stop its operation from
school year 1995-1996 to first semester school year 2001-2002. On the second
semester school year 2001-2002 on September 22, 2001, the second revival of the organization started and the recruitment/initiation
continued its routine operation.


The fraternity completed 61 batches
with 407 members of which 15 are
deceased members while 9 are expelled members.
The sorority also completed 50 batches with 386 numbers of which 5 members are deceased
and 7 members are expelled. The organization recruited 793 members of the organization
of this school year 2009 - 2010.

There were 9 fraternity advisers and 15 sorority advisers who’s untiring support and endeavors
for the growth and development thru Unity, Prosperity, Sincerity, Integrity,
Loyalty, Obedience and Novelity(UPSILON) through brotherhood and
sisterhood of this organization are:
